Physics Classroom is making strides to make our site accessible to everyone. Our site contains 6 navigation areas. The Primary, Secondary, and Page Level navigations have a screen reader version of their nav structure that allows using the left and right keys to navigate sibling navigation items, and up or down keys to navigate parent or child navigation items. The others can be navigated using tabs. The Primary Navigation handles the first 2 levels of site pages. The Secondary (which is not always available) handles the 3rd and 4th level of structure. The Page level navigation allows you to navigate the current page's headings quickly. The Header Navigation contains the Light/Dark Mode toggle, Search, Notifications and account login. The Breadcrumb Navigation contains the breadcrumb of the current page. If the current page has a breadcrumb, you can get to it by skipping to the content and tabbing in reverse (shift plus tab). The Footer Navigation contains links such as Privacy, Contact, about and terms. Some resources contain an Audio Player that can be activated by holding down the T key for 3 seconds, and then using K to pause and resume. While not every area of Physics Classroom is usable purely from keyboard and screen reader, we are committed to continue work on making this possible. If you have questions or need additional help, please use this link to contact us.

Current - Directions

Using the Electric Current Concept Builder is quite simple. There are three different activities, each with a different emphasis. In each activity you will be presented with a question that you will have to answer.

In the first activity - Fundamentals - you will be presented with either a multiple choice question or a forced-choice question in which you have to select a diagram as the answer. For the mulitple choice questions, tap on one of the three or four options. Once done, the text and its radio button will turn red. If you change your mind, then simply tap on your preferred choice. Once a choice is made, a Check Answer button appears. Once you are satisfied with your answer, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated. The questions in which you must choose between three diagrams work in a similar manner. You will need to tap on the diagram. Once done, a grey box appears around your selected diagram and a Check Answer button appears. If you change your mind, then simply tap on the preferred diagram. As long as one diagram is selected, the Check Answer button will appear. Once you are satisfied with your answer, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

In the second activity - Case Studies - you will be presented with a diagram of a circuit. Arrowtails (that indicate the amount and direction of the current) and starbursts (to indicate bulb brightness) are shown. You will then be asked how things would change if there was a change in the number of cells, the number of bulbs, or the resistance of one of the bulbs. Three cases are shown. You will have to select the case that is accurate. Tap on the diagram to select it. If you change your mind, then tap on another diagram. As long as one diagram is selected, the Check Answer button will appear. Once you are satisfied with your answer, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

In the third activity - Law Breakers - you will be presented with three diagrams of a 1- or 2-bulb circuit. Arrowtails are shown next to wires and starbursts are shown around the bulbs. One or more of the circuits violate a principle associated with electric current. Use what you know about current to identify each diagram that goes against the law. Tap on the circuit to select it; tap a second time if you need to deselect it. A selected diagram will have bars covering it (law breakers are put behind bars). As long as one circuit is selected, the Check Answer button will appear. Once you are satisfied with your answer, tap on the Check Answer button. Your answer will be evaluated and your Progress Report will be updated.

Your goal is to earn "Stars" and to complete one or more activities. Stars are earned when you show success on a particular question. Once you show success on all the questions for a particular activity, you will earn the Trophy for that activity.
