Mission CB10 VSEPR and Molecular Shape

Mission CB10 requires that students use VSEPR to determine the molecular shape of molecules that may or may not have a lone pair on the central atom. The mission consists of 36 questions organized into 9 Question Groups.

Learning Outcomes

  • The student should be able to explain the distinction between electron pair geometry and molecular shape and the effect that a lone pair has upon the molecular shape.
  • The student should be able to identify the molecular shape of a variety of molecular compounds and ions that have one or more lone pair of electrons.
