Mission ST9 Excess Reactants

Mission ST9 pertains to excess reactants. Students must be comfortable with the use of a simple ICE table (Initial amount, Change amount, and Ending amount) to analyze a limiting/excess reactant scenario (in moles). The mission consists of 20 questions organized into 5 Question Groups.

Learning Outcomes

  • The student should be able to describe what an excess reactant is.
  • The student should be able to conduct an ICE (Initially available amounts, Change amounts, and Ending amounts) analysis for a simple chemical reaction with simple numbers and identify the excess reactant and the amount that remains (in moles).
